Fire Stations
Central Fire Station was constructed in 1950 and is located at 684 Broadway. It is home to the Fire Department’s Administration Offices. Engine 48 and Ambulance 41 are staffed around the clock 24 hours a day 365 days a year and provide emergency response for all types of emergencies in South Portland and the surrounding communities. All firefighters at this station are required to be trained in Emergency Medical Services, many licensed at the Paramedic Level, Firefighter 1 & 2 and as Hazmat Technicians.
Cash Corner Fire Station is located on Main Street in South Portland. Cash Corner was rebuilt in 2020. Ladder 45 is staffed around the clock 24 hours a day 365 days a year and provides emergency response around the Main St, Rumery Industrial Park and Thornton Heights area. All the firefighters at this station are required to be trained in Emergency Medical Services and many are Paramedics. These firefighters are also required to be trained to the technician level for hazardous materials response.
Cash Corner is also home to the Thronton Heights Call Company, Engine 6.
Western Avenue Fire Station is located on James Baka Drive. The Station was constructed in 2002. Engine 44 and Ambulance 42 are staffed around the clock 24 hours a day 365 days a year and respond to emergencies around the Maine Mall area. All the firefighters at this station are required to be trained in Emergency Medical Services and many are Paramedics. These firefighters are required to be trained to the technician level for hazardous materials response, as well as all types of specialized rescue.
