The Water Resource Protection Department (WRP) is pleased to announce that our Compliance Administrator David Dane was the recent recipient of this year's Operator Safety Award at the New England Water Environment Association’s (NEWEA) annual conference and exhibit, held in Boston at the end of January. NEWEA gives this award each year in recognition of outstanding clean water professionals who promote and exemplify safety in their work environment. As Compliance Administrator, Dave works collaboratively with WRP in fulfilling the Department's mission of protecting the City's critical infrastructure, public and employee health and safety, and the community's environmental resources.
After 11 years as an award-winning photojournalist in television news, Dave made a deliberate transition from broadcasting to public service. While his journey to becoming a water professional is somewhat unconventional, both careers reflect a shared commitment to serving the community—first by informing the public, and now by helping safeguard the essential resources that support public health and quality of life. While the award bears Dave's name, he would like to recognize the commitment of all WRP employees in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace each and every day. We are very grateful and fortunate that Dave is a vital member of WRP’s (and the City’s) highly skilled and dedicated workforce!
