We enjoyed pretty spectacular summer and fall weather here in South Portland. Now it's time to get ready for whatever the winter has in store! Visit southportland.gov/winter for info.
Here are some important reminders:
- The winter parking ban is in effect. Parking is prohibited on City streets between 12 AM and 6 AM December 1 through April 1. Any car parked on a City street overnight is subject to ticketing and towing.
- If South Portland Public Works puts an emergency parking ban in place prohibiting on-street parking during daytime hours, this will be announced on our social media channels and the top of our homepage: www.southportland.gov. You can also sign up to receive an email alert by subscribing to Public Notices, Updates and Alerts at: https://southportland.gov/list.aspx
- Plowing, shoveling or otherwise moving snow or ice from private property onto any public right of way is prohibited. It also slows down snow clearing, so please don't do it!
- Our new FAQ provides answers to top questions about the City's plow/snow removal operations and winter parking ban. Check it out at southportland.gov/winterFAQ
- Age Friendly South Portland is still in need of volunteers to shovel walkways for seniors in our community. Age Friendly will only be able to assist those who have reached out for help if more volunteers step forward. You'll be paired with a senior near you and responsible for walkways only (no driveways).
